Information Flows

From manufacturing to parts procurement and logistics, Solectron's information technology (IT) systems enable the exchange of information necessary for close interaction and increased communication essential to customer projects.

Solectron employs a wide range of IT solutions to help integrate and manage supply chain processes for our customers and streamline interaction with our suppliers, including:

Real-time Production Monitoring

When working with customers, it is essential to provide on-demand, up-to-date information relevant to current projects. Through Active Business Partners (ABP), customers are given a window into the Solectron manufacturing services process. Over a secure Internet connection, customers can view the real-time status of their product manufacturing and logistics, invoices, forecasts, supplier deliveries and other important information. Customers can also customize the ABP portal to their needs, giving them access to virtually any part of the EMS process relevant to their products.

Design Collaboration

When assisting customers in the design process, collaboration is key to achieve the desired end result. Solectron specializes in virtual design collaboration, leveraging the latest IT resources to allow our engineers and customers to concurrently develop specific product technology at any and every stage of the design process.

Streamlined Supplier Interactions

Solectron works with suppliers around the globe to ensure continuity of supply for our customers. We are able to interact with suppliers through a variety of methods, from point-to-point EDI connections to interactions over public exchanges and the Internet.

Through WebPro, a customized Internet portal, Solectron has established a window for direct materials procurement. Suppliers are able to view information vital to their business, including order acknowledgments, forecasts and status reports. And through qPro, we have automated the previously manually intensive request for quote system with suppliers. The result is streamlined, point-to-point electronic interaction that reduces costs, improves efficiency and increases communication with suppliers.
